Hi, I’m Charlie.
This dog rescue organization is named after me.
My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food. It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.
If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.
Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.
Will you help me save my friends?
Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.
Save a life. Adopt one of my friends.
Lets go!
Can you please hurry?
My friends are waiting!

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.
Charlie died on May 1st, 2020. We miss him terribly.
Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather. We will do all we can to make his dream come true. You can help with a donation to his GoFundMe account.
Charlie with help from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors is rescuing lots of his friends. Even more this year than last year. Wow!

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are in full compliance with all Maine health requirements including quarantine periods, exceed the minimum age for importation, have current health certificates, have received all age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered.

Update: MORE TO BE ADDED SOON
Puppies were added today (Saturday 2/27). Over twenty more will be added over the next few days.
Please subscribe to the email list if you want to be notified.
Sometimes, for whatever reason, people back out before the adoption is complete. That means that even though a dog is “Adoption Pending”, it might become available again. We have no way of knowing whether that will happen. The best way to find out is to check the website often.
The next transport is scheduled for Saturday, March 13th.
If you want to be the first to know what is coming, please sign up for our email. We will notify you by email when new dogs are being added to the website. We will NOT spam you, nor do we share our email list with anyone, ever.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends
Brother and Sister? Really? They are six month old Chihuahua / Pocket Pittie mixes.
Looks to me like I took after the good looking parent and he, well, favored the other one. Not that the other parent is ugly or that Smokey is ugly, don’t get me wrong. Just not as good looking.
Yes, we really are brother and sister. At least my mom said so.
Two Girls and Two Boys!
These siblings are Pyrenees / Husky mixes. They are four months old.
Dove Mommy is a female Labrador mix. She is one year old.
Will you adopt me? Have you seen my beautiful babies? I am very proud of them and I want them to have a great life. Will you adopt one? How about two?
Debbie and Eliza are girls, Darwin and Donnie are boys.
Two Girls and a Boy! These siblings are Shepherd mixes. They are Eleven weeks old.
Hi, they call me Incredible. I think the name fits me perfectly. We have had a bit of a rough time in our short lives. When they said we would be going to Maine we had no idea where that is. Still don’t.
But they said we will get adopted there and live forever with a loving family that we can love. Wow!
What could be better than that?
So we are coming, my brother, my sister and I. Or should I say my brother, my sister and me. I’ve never been sure and my mom isn’t around where I can ask her.
Anyway we are coming and I think it’s amazing. Just call us THE AMAZINGS.
Will you adopt one of us?
Midnight Cowboy is a male Spaniel mix. He is 15 weeks old.
I’m Midnight Cowboy. Now isn’t that a cool name. I’m comning to Maine soon and I really hope to be adopted. Will it be you?
Three Girls and a Boy! These siblings are Labrador / Border Collie mixes. They are thirteen weeks old.
Molly Pie is a female Heeler / Jack Russell. She is two years old.
Hi, I’m Molly Pie. I tend to be a little shy at first. I just want to know that you are friendly before I let my emotions show. I am really sweet when you get to know me. I’m good with other dogs and I love people.
Mom Baby Girl is a female two year old Border Collie mix.
Wait until you see my beautiful babies! I have ten count ’em TEN gorgeous puppies that will all be added to the website here in the next couple of days. They will be coming to Maine along with me in March.
Milly Mom is a two year old Labrador Mix.
I’m just like Mom Baby Girl (only better). She has lots of puppies too!
Wait until you see my beautiful babies! Mine are even better looking and cuter than Mom Baby Girl’s and that is very tough competition!
I have ten count ’em TEN gorgeous puppies that will all be added to the website here in the next couple of days. They will be coming to Maine along with me in March. Get ready!
Shiro is a German Shepherd / Pittie mix. She is three months old.
Well hello there. I am looking at you and I can see that you are a really nice person. I am a really good dog so why not be together? I will make the best friend you ever had. I promise!
Please adopt me and we will both be happy!
Snorty is a male Pekinese. He is four to five years old.
Hello. They call me Snorty. I don’t really like that name but I’m kind of stuck with it.
I’m coming to Maine soon and I’m hoping someone will adopt me. Will it be you? I sure hope so.
Roscoe and Rosie are brother and sister. They are Schnauzer / Poodle mixs and are one year old.
My brother Roscoe and I are coming to Maine soon. We hope to be adopted.
Momo and Lilly Dilly are brother and sister. They are one year old Pekinese / Jack Russel Terrier mix.
It was cold outside! We were afraid and cold and just wanted to go inside but the man wouldn’t let us in. She finally gave us away to a shelter. I don’t want to sound ungrateful but she could have given him away instead.
Hi, I’m known as Lilly Dilly. My brother Momo and I belonged to a nice lady. Her husband made us stay outside, even in the freezing whether. The woman tried everything she could think of but nothing worked so she took us to a shelter
Horacio is a male Spitz mix. He is 2.5 years old.
Do you know what happened to me? Oh Hi, my name is Horacio.
Well, a big dog bit me in the belly. They took me to the veterinarian. Sound good so far? Well here is the kicker – THEY NEVER CAME BACK.
The veterinarian took good care of me but the only place they had to keep me was in a cage. The people were nice but I hated the cage. Day and night day after day. 24/7 in a cage. I thought I would go bonkers.
Then they said that Rescue Charlie’s Friends would bring me to Maine and I would get adopted.
WOW! They told me that it would happen soon and I would be on my way! I can hardly wait. I’m going to get adopted!
Sugar and Spice are one year old female Chihuahua / Miniature Pinscher mixes. They can be adopted separately.
Let me tell you what happened to us. They took us to the groomer for a bath. I had a bad feeling and I told my sister I thought something was wrong. She felt it too.
Things seemed OK at first and we had a nice bath. An hour went by. Then another and another and another. They never came back for us. They just left us there. We cried and cried but we are over it now. It was their loss. We are wonderful dogs.
We will do best in a house that doesn’t have little kids. Of course I’m housebroken. Please keep your voice down when you ask stuff like that.
Anyway, I would love to be yours and lay on your lap.
Did my sister tell you what happened?
Right away we could both tell that something was wrong but we just didn’t know what.
Anyway, we have already had our cry about it and we are ready to move on with our new life. I’m hoping my new life will be with you. Will it?
I will do best in a house that doesn’t have little kids. Of course I’m housebroken.
Please come closer – I don’t want Sugar to hear. She took it real hard when we were just dumped at the groomer’s. Please adopt her. It will be the most wonderful thing for her.
Do you know we can be adopted separately? We don’t have to go together.
After Sugar gets adopted, do you know anyone who might want to adopt me?
Leroy is a male Labrador. He is eight months old.
I’m Leroy. I hoping you will adopt me. Trust me, this is not a very good picture of me. When you meet me you will see that I am rather handsome. I am very sweet and love everyone.
I was locked up for a very long time and am so glad to be free.
Max is a male Husky mix. He is one year old and weighs about 48 pounds.
Max – That’s Me!
I am very sweet and I get along great with other dogs. I’m even good on a leash.
What? Yes, of course I’m housebroken. I embarrassed that you had to ask. I’m smart and I catch on quick. Holy cow – I hope the girls didn’t hear you ask that.
Lola Pop is a Labrador / Rottweiler mix. She is six months old and weighs about forty pounds.
My name is Lola Pop and I am a very sweet girl. I love everybody!
Will you aodopt me? Please?
Batgirl is a female Chiweenie mix. She is one or two years old and weighs about ten pounds
I’m pretty much a lap dog. I’m better in a house that doesn’t have kids or other dogs. What I’m really good at is laying next to you watching TV. Know any good movies with dogs? Happy endings, of course.
Sugar Baby is a female Rottweiler mix. She is seven or eight months old and weighs about 45 pounds.
Well I am one very sweet dog. I love kids and other dogs. I’m afraid I might knock toddlers down, so I’d rather not be around really little kids.
Gordon is a male Labrador / Hound mix. He is one year old and weighs about forty five pounds.
Gordon has been abused and he is pretty much terrified of everyone and everything new. He just needs a little patience and some training and he will be your loving friend forever.
I’m Gordon. Will you be my friend? Will you be kind to me? I’m really a little afraid of you and I don’t want to get too close until I can be sure you won’t hurt me.
Please let me love you. Please just love me back. That’s all I want. That’s all I ever wanted.
Daisy Mae is a female Chiweenie. She was born in May 2020.
Hello out there! I’m Daisy Mae and as you can see, I am one good looking Chiweenie.
I’m looking for a new home. I really want someone I can love for ever and ever. Will it be you? I hope so!
I can be a little hyper and shy at first. It takes me a little while to warm up. I get along great with other dogs.
Cats? I just ignore them and hope they don’t do anything mean to me.
Duke is a four year old Shepherd mix. He weighs about 45 pounds.
Hi, I’m Duke. I’m really good with kids, small dogs, people and even cats. I was around some goats and I liked to chase them. I liked it a little too much, so I probably shouldn’t be with a family that has goats.
Piper is a one and a half year old Hound mix. She is a female and weighs about 51 pounds
Well I’m Piper. I’m very sweet. I’m good with kids and other dogs too. I’m good looking too. All the boys say so.
Memphis is a five or six year old Husky mix. He is a male.
Memphis – That’s me! I’m a boy and I’m kind of a loner but i am really gentle and good with other dogs. I’m best in a family without kids.
Prissy is a female Pomeranian mix. She is ten years old, maybe even older.
Hello. My name is Prissy. I’m a girl and I’m ten years old.
Butter Bean is a male Labrador mix. He is nine weeks old in the picture (January 5th).
Will you adopt me? Yes, you. YOU. I’m looking right at you.
Sorry I didn’t mean to be rude. My mom said I shouldn’t stare. But i really do want to be adopted and you look like such a nice person I was hoping that it would be you. Please? Don’t click away!
Hi, I’m the proud mom of the Shades of Blue puppies. Aren’t they beautiful?
I am so happy to see that they will be adopted. Now it’s my turn. Will you adopt me? Please?
The Shades of Blue Puppies!
One Boy and Four Girls. Five Gorgeous Puppies.
Beautiful little Puppies! They pass the cuteness test!
One of our wonderful Fosters was on News Center 6 Maine on 4/25/2020
We wish we could say we created these hilarious videos, but in truth they were purloined from the internet
I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.
I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.
I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.
He means everything to me.
PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.
I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!
Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.
I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.
This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us.
