Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.

Charlie died on May 1st, 2020.  We miss him terribly.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather.  His dream has come true thanks to some very generous donations.

Scroll down to see the available dogs and puppies! Most are here now just waiting for you!

The Next Transport arrives on Saturday July 13th.

Marshmallow- we can’t get enough of him!
Just a gorgeous distinguished gentleman.

He loves cuddling and is such a sweet boy.
A shelter employee said multiple families brought their kids to meet him and he did great.

He’s done great meeting our neighbor’s toddlers as well.
He loves to play fetch, get groomed (he wants to be a handsome boy), and playing with other dogs.

He does think he’s some sort of mighty bunny hunter outside.
Marshmallow knows how to settle and be a good boy, but is also down for an adventure.

He dreams of being a sled dog and you’re the sled because he’s quite the puller on leash.

Marshmallow is happy to work on this and our trainer, Lee is also happy to help with this with his new family!

This sad face tells a story.

Bella Grace once had a loving home but her owner had some health issues that led to him not being able to take care of her anymore.

A home health aide found Bella and her babies malnourished in a closet in his home.

Luckily our southern partners took her in.

Bella Grace is so sweet and is not sure why she has lost her home.

She has some energy so would like a home that will give her time to play and to exercise.

Walks and running around the yard are her favorite things to do.

She is just a happy girl!

We would love to find her an amazing, loving home that will let her know she’s home forever ❤️

Kite - I'm a Boy!
Hi there, I’m Kite!

I am the best boy Ever!!!
This is what my foster says about me:
We’ve been calling him “Kai” which means some lovely things across different cultures: “protection and healing,” “king,” “ocean.
He loves being with his people and go on long walks or run around in the yard with us.
Kite plays well with other dogs of varying sizes.
He tends to be submissive and leans towards shy.
He would love to have another doggy friend in the household, preferably not a dominant one.
Because he loves to play and jump, he would do better with kids over twelve years old, so he won’t knock them over in his excitement.
Kite loves affection and attention.
He needs exercise and stimulation.
Kite is treat motivated so he is easy to train.
He is a very smart boy.
Kite walks good on a leash and loves his walks.
He is just a loveable older puppy.

She was found in a dumpster, and how sad, she wasn’t the only dog dumped in there….

Worse than that.

Goldilocks was the only one to come out alive.

She had a horrendous beginning, and that’s all we needed to know about her to say yes- absolutely we’ll take her and find the family she deserves.

I am a big boy but I’m perfect, if I may say so myself.
My foster says that I am the easiest dog they ever fostered.

They said that I am  very sweet, polite and so cute and goofy when I am feeling playful.

I am also very gentle for the children in my foster home, so that they can walk me too.

I do think I would do best in a quiet home, so that I can take my beauty naps peacefully.

Snow - I'm a Girl!

This beauty is Snow.

Friends, meet Snow.

This gorgeous girl is here in Maine and is looking for her forever home.

Writing this post makes me cry a bit as we love her and she’s the perfect house guest but, in order to save more dogs, I need to leave space in my home to foster again.

Snow may be 65 pounds but she truly is a gentle giant.

She’s been great with all dogs she has met, is absolutely fine with my cat, and is great with my three year old daughter.

She has not had one accident in my home and is crate trained, although she doesn’t really need to be crated.

She walks well on leash and mainly likes to lounge although she does dance when excited and she offers her paw when she meets new people.

Snow’s ideal home would be with someone who works from home or is retired as she likes to go outside to potty every few hours (although she sleeps through the night with no need for a potty break).

Ideally her home would have at least one woman as she can be shy around men (she warms up quickly but women give her confidence).

She could go to a home with or without a dog but would prefer a lower energy companion and not a hyper, in her face type dog.

And while Snow has been amazing with my three year old and the neighbor’s kids, I think she would prefer a quieter home with older or no kids.

This girl so deserves to find a forever home where she will be loved and spoiled.

Will that be you?

They even have some livestock which hasn’t been an issue either.

It seems impossible but, sadly, that was what happened to us.
Luckily we were found before we got hurt, and now we will be coming to Maine soon. YAY!!
Me and my sis Bee are pretty quickly learning to walk on a leash with our foster here.
We are also pretty good, if I can say so myself, with doing our biz outside.
Both Bee and I were overwhelmed at the shelter, it was very noisy and scary there.

We are very polite and sweet with other dogs. Of course we do need some puppy manners, and commands training.
We are very loving too, I give the best smooches, my sis wants too but is a little bit shy at first.

What people are saying

Everyone at Rescue Charlie’s Friends, we can’t thank you enough for all that you do with your amazing rescue! Our new addition Clara (aka Azure) is loving her new life here in Lincolnville and her new friend Trigger is in love.

Thank you again for all of your hard work!

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

The first time you 0rder your Pet Food at Chewy.com Rescue Charlie's Friends will get a $20 donation!
