Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.

Charlie died on May 1st, 2020.  We miss him terribly.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather.  His dream has come true thanks to some very generous donations.

Meet Charlie's Friends

Charlie with help from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors is rescuing lots of his friends. Even more this year than last year. Wow!

My name is Dagwood.  I’m the kind of dog that will make you really glad you adopted me.

Did they tell you that I got hit by a car?  Well I did.  I had surgery and they removed the head of my femur.  Sounds terrible and it is, but I have fully recovered and you would never know by looking at me.

Howdy, I’m Rock!
I am just a sweet love bug.  I really love people.  I love kids too.

I’m good with other dogs but sometimes male dogs are not my favorite.

I’m ready to give you all the love I have, and that’s a LOT.  I just want to be adopted.  Will you adopt me?  Please?

I will be the best friend you ever had!

Dandelion

Did I tell you that I have the greatest mom in the whole wide world?  Anyway her name is Tulip but I call her mom.

I am a little shy at first.  I think I got it from mom.  Anyway I will get over it quick if you will just sit down and let me come to you.

Anyway, my name is Dandelion and I’m a really good dog.  Anyway, I’m housebroken too. Did I say ‘anyway’ again?  I keep saying it.  Anyway, I’m sorry.

I’m Boulder.  I really like my name.  What is tougher than a boulder?  Not much, that’s why I like it.

Well, my sisters and brothers all want the same thing we.  We want to be adopted and have families of our own that we can love.  That’s all.

Of course if you wanted to play fetch with me or take me walking in the woods, I would love that too.

Know what they say about me?  They say I’m cute, very sweet and that I love everybody.  Know why they say that?  Simple.  It’s because I’m cute, very sweet and I love everybody.

So how about adopting me?

Blood Donors

These dogs were used to donate blood to other dogs during surgical procedures.  Charlie would be proud that he rescued them because things would not have ended well for them otherwise.

Wow are we glad to get out of there!  They kept us in cages unless they wanted our blood.  They took so much that sometimes I felt weak afterwards.

I know I am speaking for all of us when we say how happy we will be to be adopted.  We just want someone to love, that’s all.

By the way, they call me Marie Curie.  I like it but you can call me anything you like.

Duke

So here is my big question.  I’m here but I know I can’t stay here long.  I need to be adopted so i have a family of my own.  Will you adopt me?

By the way, for what it’s worth, all the girls say I’m really cute and they love to play with my ears.

Did they tell you that I am a big cuddle bug?  Did they tell you what happened to us?

Well, we hardly got any food to eat and they were not at all kind to us.  Just let me say that we were very very glad to be rescued. Now we are getting enough to eat but we still need one more thing and it is very important.  My babies (Yes, they are ALL GIRLS!) need to be adopted so they can have a family of their own to love.  They need that.  So do I.

Will you adopt one of them?  then when we can be sure that they will have a happy life, will you adopt me?

Oh, back to telling you a little about me.  Yes, I’m a big cuddle bug.  I love kids and I get along great with other dogs.  I even get along with chickens and other livestock.

I love to go out and run but when it comes time to settle down and calm down, I’m ready to take a nap in you lap.  I love it there.

So like I asked before, will you adopt one of my babies and then will you adopt me?

Hi I, Gucci.

We are some really great dogs.  We are all doing the same thing – we are waiting to be adopted.

That’s all we want – we want to be part of a family that we can love and that will love us.

Will you adopt one of us?  How about me?  Will you adopt me?

Know what I’d like? I’d love to play chase-the-ball with you.  Are you good at throwing balls?  Know what I don’t like?  I don’ like going to the vet.

Will you adopt me so I can be part of your family and love you forever?  Lets not go to see the vet, OK?

The exciting news is we are all coming to Maine!  We are going to be adopted!  Wait a minute.  I want to make sure that all my little dwarfs get adopted, so please step up and adopt one, OK.

Then, when they are all taken care of, will you adopt me?  I just want a family of my own.

Hey I’m sorry if I came off sounding like a tough girl.  I’m really sweet and I love everyone.  I’m really good with kids and I’m good with other dogs too.

Someone said I don’t belong here because I am just an add-on to the seven dwarfs.  I don’t get that at all.  why seven?  There are eight of us and I’m sure because I counted us on my legs and I have four of them so if I go around twice, that makes eight, right?  So there are eight of us.  Just get over it everyone.

Bashful - I'm a girl

Hi I’m Bashful.  No I mean it, it’s not just my name.  I really am bashful.  I’m like the girl at the high school dance who hides behind the other girls afraid someone will ask her to dance and at the same time afraid no one will.  I never want everyone to be looking at me.  I just want to be there but I’m always hoping no one notices me.  Funny thing is – I’m sad when no one does.

Doc - I'm a boy

Holy cow.  All the problems my brothers and sisters have make me dizzy.

Look, I’m just a simple puppy with no hang-ups, no complexes and no problems.  I just want a family I can love. Maybe I can lay next to you on the couch and once in a while maybe you’ll throw a ball for me or take me for a ride in the car.  I would love that.  Give me that and I’ll give you all the love in my little heart forever. Deal?

I really want to be adopted.  I will  make the best friend you ever had.  Please be a little patient with me while I learn to trust you.

HI, I’m Daisee.  I just want you to know a little about my sister Dustee and I.  We are really great dogs.  We love everyone and we are good with other dogs too.

We are living with a Foster now and they had company last weekend with three little girls, three, five and seven years old.  They were so much fun.  we played with them all day.  We were real gentle and careful not to knock them down.  It was great fun having them pet us and rub our bellies.  We loved playing with the little kids and even shared our favorite toys with them.  I think we will make great family dogs.

Will you adopt one of us into your family?

The Lion King Crew

The Lion King Crew, one girl and five boys, are Austrailian Shepherd mixes.  They are six weeks old in the pictures.  Nala is the only girl.

So I was wondering.  Am I cute enough to get adopted?  I know that there are lots of really cute little dogs and puppies wanting to be adopted and I’m scared.

What if no one loves me?  What if no one thinks I’m cute?  That drummer boy from Michigan said I’m cute but I don’t know if anyone cares what he thinks.  He was just passing through anyway.

So that’s my big question.  Am I cute enough?  What do you think?  Actually, your opinion is the only one that matters.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.
