Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.

Charlie died on May 1st, 2020.  We miss him terribly.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather and operate not just as a dog rescue but as a dog shelter. We will do all we can to make his dream come true.  You can help with a donation to his GoFundMe account.

WE ARE SOOO EXCITED!

Well, I don’t know if you really want to know what happened to me.  Reader discretion is advised.

When I was a little pup, someone poured a little gasoline on my back and set me on fire.  It really hurt and I still have a bit of a scar.  It’s all in the past and I don’t feel sorry for myself about it.  All I really want now is to be adopted.

I still have a lot of love to give and I would love to join your family.  Will you let me love you?

Here’s the deal.  I really hope that someone will adopt me. I’m a very good dog.  I’m housebroken, I won’t eat your shoes and I’m really good with kids.

Bigger kids please.  I’m a big girl and I might knock toddlers down.  I don’t want any trouble, so i would like to be the only dog in the home, if that’s OK.  It’s just that I want ALL the attention.

Have you heard my story?  Well, my name is Junior and I was wondering around hoping to find something to eat.  things just weren’t going too well.

I girl found me and took me home.  It was wonderful.  She saved her money to get my veterinary needs taken care of and she fed me and gave me lots of love.

But then she went away to college and her parents couldn’t keep me, so I came to this shelter.  I was really really scared.  They have been kind to me but it’s just not the same as having a home.

They told Rescue Charlie’s Friends about me and they brought me to Maine.  They said that I will get adopted and have a family to love!  I can hardly wait!  I really hope I get adopted.

Even though I’m a little shy around men at first, I love everybody but I would like to be the only dog in the house, if that is OK.  Why?  I like all the attention for myself, that’s why!

Will you adopt me?  Please? Look, I’m already potty trained and I don’t eat shoes anymore.  So can we be a family?

I had a family that I loved with all my heart.  One day they put me in the car and I thought we were going for a ride.  I love going in the car!

They took me to this shelter and just drove off and left me here.  They said they couldn’t keep me any more.  I don’t know why.  I cried my eyes out.

They are really nice to me here but it is not the same as having my own family.

The great people here told Rescue Charlie’s Friends about me.  They will bring me to Maine and make sure I get adopted.  That made me feel MUCH better.  I can hardly wait until December when I can go to Maine and get adopted.

I just want to be a part of a family again and have people to love.

Will it be you?

Here is what Nova’s Foster in Alabama says about her.
She is HOUSETRAINED and knows Sit, Shake, Down, and Rollover.
Her previous owner stated she was dog selective, but I tested her with two dogs and she did great! But to be on the very safe side, we are recommending she be the only dog in the home. She lived with a cat in her previous home. She’s a little afraid of men but does warm up, she’s much more relaxed around women. She’s well behaved, calm, well mannered, and ladylike.

She truly is the perfect girl.

Simon and Garfunkel

Simon and Garfunkel are about one and a half years old.  They were surrendered by their owners to a shelter that would not have been able to keep them long. Rescue Charlie’s Friends was able to rescue them in time.  We don’t know how long they have been living together.  They can be adopted together or separately.

Simon and Garfunkel did NOT arrive in September as originally scheduled.  Unfortunately they tested positive for heartworm. so they have to stay in Alabama until their treatment is complete and they test negative.  That usually takes two or three months, so we expect they will arrive in Maine in November or December

Greta is PERFECT. We dog tested her, and she just rolled over and was so submissive. She loves EVERYONE and all dogs.
She’s your “Turn Key Ready” girl~ Polite, calm, patient, well behaved. She’s gonna do well in any family. From active with small kids, to older and more sedentary. She also walks great on leash. What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
