Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Meet Charlie's Friends

2019 was a huge success and 2020 is off to a great start! Charlie with help from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors is rescuing lots of his friends. Click here to see some of the many dogs that have already found new homes.

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are in full compliance with all Maine health requirements including quarantine periods, exceed the minimum age for importation, have current health certificates, have received all age appropriate vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip to identify them so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

NOTICE

The next transport is scheduled for May 2nd.

This may have to change based on what happens over the next few weeks with the virus and the Governor’s orders.  We are monitoring the situation closely and communicating with the Maine State Veterinarian.

If you want to be kept up to date on the plans and be the first to know of new dogs becoming available, please sign up for our email. Don’t worry, we won’t spam you.

The Coronavirus has changed things.  We were informed that shelters in Alabama were forced to close which meant they had to euthanize all the dogs in their custody.  Working with our wonderful Volunteers, Rescue Charlie’s Friends was able to pull over seventy dogs, both adults and puppies, from the shelters in time.  They are now safe with Fosters in Alabama where they are receiving veterinary services and loving care. The next step of the plan is to transport them to Maine for adoption. We will be adding the dogs to the website soon.

What happened to the seventy five dogs that arrived in March? Where did they all go?
They got adopted into wonderful families!

Charlie brought me to Maine and he says people here will want me.  I just want to be a part of a family again.  I promise I will never chew on your shoe.  Will you adopt me?  Please?  I’ll be really good.

Cleo

Hi, I’m Cleo and I’m looking for a new home.  I’m very friendly with everyone.

Cleo is a special girl. She likes ALL dogs/cats/critters. Submits to everyone and everything.
But here is her one issue-
She never learned to walk on a leash properly and she tugs.. she is very strong at 75 lbs.
She will need a strong handler…
Her current owner is frail/sickly and almost got dragged by Cleo and is afraid shes going to get hurt.
Other than that, Cleo is a special girl.
Loves everyone… calm.. housebroken..
LOVES kids and other animals.
Shes been taught to pick up her toys and put them away.

Hi, I’m Winnie.  Charlie brought us all the way from Alabama to Maine.  He said there are wonderful people in Maine who would love to have a puppy like me.

I just want to be adopted into your family.  I will learn quickly and do my best to please you.  I’ll be the best friend you ever had.

Will you adopt me?

Bella Pom

Bella Pom is a thirteen year old Pomeranian.  Unfortunately, this is a hospice situation. She has arrived in Maine and is being cared for by one of our wonderful Fosters.  Bella Pom has cancer.  She is terminal and doesn’t have much more time on this earth.  She is a sweet girl.

Bella Pom is being cared for by a wonderful Foster, here in Maine, for the rest of her days.

Hi, I’m Bella Pom.  I have cancer and the veterinarian says I won’t be around much longer.  Charlie rescued me anyway and brought me to Maine.

A wonderful Foster took me into her home and is taking care of me and loving me for the rest of my life.  I am so happy that she is taking care of me. I will give her all my love for so long as I live. I promise.

I asked them not to take a picture of me in this stupid crate, but they did it anyway.  I am much better looking – some even say handsome –  in real life.  I would love to lay with you on the couch.

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
