Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.

Charlie died on May 1st, 2020.  We miss him terribly.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather.  We already have the land.  We have most of the funds needed for a building.  We hope to raise the rest soon so we can make his dream come true.  You can help with a donation to his GoFundMe account.

Meet Charlie's Friends

Charlie with help from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors is rescuing lots of his friends. Even more this year than last year. Wow!

Click here to see some of the many dogs that have already found new homes.

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are in full compliance with all Maine health requirements including quarantine periods, exceed the minimum age for importation, have current health certificates, have received all age appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered.

If you want to be the first to know, get a sneak peek and be notified of our adoption events, just sign up for our email.

Coming April 24th

The next transport is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th

Most of the adults are already on the website.  We are beginning to add the puppies today (over fifty of them).  Of course if you signed up for our email, you already knew that.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, people back out before the adoption is complete. That means that even though a dog is “Adoption Pending”, it might become available again.  We have no way of knowing whether that will happen.   The best way to find out is to check the website often.

If you want to be the first to know what is coming, please sign up for our email.  We will notify you by email when new dogs are being added to the website.  We will NOT spam you, nor do we share our email list with anyone, ever.

Here we are.  My four sisters and me.  We are all hoping for the same thing – to be adopted into a loving family that we can love.  Simple, that’s it.

There are only five of us, that shouldn’t be too hard.  Just pick one.  Easy Peasy!

Kiki

Kiki is a female one or two year old Pitty mix.  She weighs about 35 pounds.

Hi, I’m Kiki.

They say I’m a little shy at first, but I don’t really think so.  I’m a cuddler and I’m playful with other dogs.

I’m very sweet and I really hope I get adopted.  That’s why they are bringing me to Maine, you know – so I’ll get adopted!  I can hardly wait!

My, My, My.  So it’s true.  i’m really going to get adopted.  I had a hard time believing it – it just seemed too good to be true.

I can see you now and you look like the perfect person for me.  If you will just give me a chance you’ll see that I am the very best dog you ever did see.

I will be your best friend and love you forever.

Brett and Bentley

Brett and Bently are half-brothers.  They are Collie / Pyrenees mixes.  Brett is five months old and Bentley is three months old.

Hello, I’m Brett.  I’m the oldest.  Bentley and I have the same daddy but different mothers.

I want to be adopted too.  Will you adopt me?  My little brother is nice but he thinks that I should give him my toys.  Sometimes he can be a pain.

I’m Bentley.  Brett and I have different mom’s but the same dad.  We sure look different but I think we both are good looking, like our dad.

We are both very happy puppies.  I am hoping someone will adopt me.  I will make a great addition to a family.  How about your family?  Would you like me to be your very best friend?  I would like that.

My brother Ben just loves to pull on my ears and tail.  It drives me bonkers and the madder I get the harder he laughs.  He thinks he is SOOO funny.

But he’s not a bit mean.  He is really tender and loving if he will just grow up a bit and get out of the puppy stage.

I hope he gets adopted into a family that he can love and that will love him.

Actually, that is exactly what I want too.  Will you adopt me?  How about my brother?  Will you adopt him?

I didn’t hear what my sister said to you, but don’t pay any attention.  She just goes on and on.

What I know is that we are loving puppies who just want a chance to have a home with a loving family, just like yours.

We don’t have to be adopted by the same family, we can go separately.  Please!

We are called the “Royal Pups” but please don’t think we are used to riding around in carraiges pulled by beautiful matching horses while we wave our paws at the adoring crowds.

We are just ordinary pups that like to chase each other around and play in the mud.  Or at least Charles does.  I prefer to stay out of the mud and just nap in the sun.

I’ll get right to it.  I really, really want to get adopted.  I’ve already seen what can happen to dogs that are just abandoned or left to find food on their own.  I don’t want that to happen to me!

So will you adopt me?  Do I pass the cuteness test?  You bet I do.  All the guys here say I am beautiful.  Ok, they didn’t say “beautiful”, they said “cute”.  They are right.

There.  I said it.  I’m cute and I want you to adopt me.  OK?

Dozer

Dozer is a male.  He is a three month old Bulldog mix.

Hello, my name is Dozer.  Sometimes the people here call me “Old Man”.  I’m not sure why they would call me that because I’m just a little puppy.

Hi, I’m Dylan.  I know I look a lot different from my brother Bosley and my sister Natalie.  I asked my mom about it and she said we really are all her babies and we really do all have the same daddy.  I’m not sure about that but I let it go.

They just don’t listen.  I asked them to come back for pictures AFTER my nap.  But nope, they just went ahead and took my picture while I was sleeping.  I could have been awake, alert, looking at the camera and smiling for everyone to see.  It would have helped me get adopted!

Isn’t that what we all want?

Shelley

Shelley is a female Labrador mix.  She is one year old and weighs forty pounds.  Shelley is very shy.  She has been abused and tends to cower with new people.  She needs kindness, love and a little patience to build trust with new people.

Hello – my name is Shelley.  Is it OK if I talk with you?  I haven’t had a very good life so far, so I just want to find out if you are a kind person or – well I don’t want anyone to hurt me.

If you will adopt me that would be wonderful.  I will show you how much a dog can love you.  I will be your very best friend forever and ever.  Please adopt me.

Dexter

Dexter is a male Labrador mix.  He is one year old.

I’M A MOVIE STAR!  I’m in two videos already and they don’t even have any regualr pictures of me yet.  They will have some pretty soon, I think.

I am a happy dog!  I’m going to Maine and I’m going to get adopted!

Buy the way, I’m great with kids and other dogs.  I even walk great on a leash!

I told them “No pictures please”  but they said if I wanted to get adopted, we needed pictures so I said “OK”.  Just so you know, I was really cute when I had all my hair.  All the guys said so.  I’ll be really cute again once it all grows back.

I am hoping that I will get adopted.  Will you adopt me?  I only weigh fifteen pounds and I will fit right on your lap,. OK?

They said I will be going to Maine and get adopted.  They said that means that I will become part of a family that I can love and that will love me.  I hope they are telling me the truth.

Can you see the rings around my eyes?

I see they labeled me as “House breaking started”.  That’s a little insulting.  Maybe if they let me out when I asked there wouldn’t be any problems.

They said I’m going to Maine, wherever that is, in April, whenever that is.  The thing is, whenever I get to wherever I’m going, I’m going to be adopted!!

Now that is wonderful!  I can hardly wait!

If you will just adopt me, I will learn really quick and I will do my best to please you.  Really.  I mean it.

I had a family once but they went away and just left me behind.  I am really sweet with kids and even with other dogs.  I don’t know why they left me.  I didn’t do anything wrong.  I sorta nibbled on a remote control once – OK I ate it,  but I was really little then.

I couldn’t help but overhear what those other girls were saying about which one of them is their dad’s favorite daughter.  Who cares? They are just spoiled.  They don’t know how tough life can be.

Look, I’m not into drama.  I’m just a sweet, lovable little dog.   I was a stray in a trailer park and those marks on my face are from cigarette burns, so I never worried about anything so stupid as ‘who was dad’s favorite’.  I never even met my dad.

Now I have been rescued!  They told me  I’m going to Maine where I will get adopted.  When I heard that I just burst into tears.  Happy tears.

Are you the one who will adopt me?  You will never see a dog more grateful than me.  I will cuddle with you every day for so long as I live.  I promise.

What people are saying

Everyone at Rescue Charlie’s Friends, we can’t thank you enough for all that you do with your amazing rescue! Our new addition Clara (aka Azure) is loving her new life here in Lincolnville and her new friend Trigger is in love.

Thank you again for all of your hard work!

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
