Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Charlie’s Dream – His own building
Charlie was an inspiration for all of us, humans and dogs. He saved hundreds of dogs and maybe some humans too in his years working with Rescue Charlie’s Friends. He saw all the dogs passing through and we think he knew he was doing something wonderful.

Charlie died on May 1st, 2020.  We miss him terribly.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends will live on in his memory and continue to rescue dogs. Charlie’s dream was to have his own building where he could receive the transports indoors out of the weather.  His dream has come true thanks to some very generous donations.

Scroll down to see the available dogs and puppies! Most are here now just waiting for you!

The next full transport will arrive on Saturday, November 11th

Sheila - I'm a Girl!

I’m not too sure what happened.  One day I was with my mom and then the next I am in a shelter by myself.  I was really scared even though the people here are really nice.

My puppies “the Space Crew” came up to Maine a while back and they all were adopted by great families

Anyway, they told me that Charlie will bring me to Maine too and I will get adopted.  I sure hope they are right.

I am housebroken and am very smart.

I like to be outside to play and run and like go for walks, I do well on leash but I am strong.

I haven’t yet met a person or dogs that I don’t love or doesn’t love me.

I do think that my size dogs are really fun to play with.

I do love kids but think an older child would be better as I may be too excitable with those greetings when you get home.

Are you the one?  Will you adopt me?

Sweet beautiful Gabe is a shepherd mix and is estimated to be about a year old.

He weighs in at a whopping 30 pounds.

He was on the euthanasia list at a Fort Worth shelter simply because there was no more room.

Rescue Charlie’s saw him and recognized that he needed help, and deserved a second chance in life.

A kind foster in Texas stepped up to help save his life, and care for him while he waited to come up to RCF in Maine.

His foster says Gabe is potty trained, crate trained, and seems very comfortable in the house.

Gabe is dog friendly, food motivated which can aid in training, and loves to play and cuddle.

This sweet boy is looking for his forever loving home.

Will that be you?

Thelma

Thelma is around a year old and weighs 57 pounds.

Hi, Thelma here, checking in to make sure that you saw that I am available!

I am a beautiful Shepherd mix and am  around a year old.

I  weigh about 57 pounds so I look pretty good , if I can say so myself.

I was in a shelter in a place called Fort Worth.

Due to lack of space they told me it was time to put me to sleep.

Rescue Charlie’s Friends stepped up and together with a lovely foster to care for , here in Texas, me I got our of that place.

My awesome foster has all these great things to say about me:

Thelma is house trained, crate trained, she loves the water.

Thelma likes to play with her toys and loves treats.

She is Dog and people friendly and eager to please

Thelma would do best with dogs her size and older kids as she has energy and might knock down the real little ones.

So I am coming up to Maine soon and can’t wait to meet all of Charlie’s friends and my new family.
See you all soon!

Rapunzel was brought into rescue when her owner was evicted and there was no place for the dogs to go.

She is friendly, plays well with other dogs, and loves water.

Rapunzel is a cuddly dog that loves to snuggle with you on the couch.

She follows commands well and loves to give kisses.

Chasing the ball and running around is another one of her favorite things to do.

Maybe Rapunzel might be a good fit for your family?

She will be coming to Maine soon and can’t wait to meet her new family.

Baby Koda

This handsome boy is Baby Koda.

He is a lab mix around one and a half years old and weighs forty-five pounds.

Baby Koda - I'm a Boy!
Baby Koda came into rescue when a good Samaritan saved him from bigger dogs that were bullying him.

He’s a happy, loving, energetic older puppy.

Baby Koda likes to stretch out like a frog, and play in mud puddles.

He needs some manners and puppy training~ but he’s super smart so he’ll pick up commands in no time.
He just wants to please everyone.

Baby Koda is good with other dogs and all people and would LOVE an active family to love him.

Will that be you?

What people are saying

Everyone at Rescue Charlie’s Friends, we can’t thank you enough for all that you do with your amazing rescue! Our new addition Clara (aka Azure) is loving her new life here in Lincolnville and her new friend Trigger is in love.

Thank you again for all of your hard work!

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.
