Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Meet Charlie's Friends

2019 has been a huge success – lots of Rescue dogs adopted!

Charlie (with help from humans) rescued lots of his friends. They are very happy dogs and most have already been adopted by their new families.  Scroll down to see the dogs and puppies that will be arriving in Maine and ready for adoption soon.

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are up to date on all their vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

I’m a really good dog.  I love everybody and I just want to be part of a family.  I’ll be the part of the family that is always happy, never in a bad mood.

So I’m walking around minding my own business, just looking for something to eat and this guy says “Hey, come here. Let me see your eyes. They’re two different colors.”

Now I never knew that before, they seem the same to me, so I let him look.  Bingo-Bango I wind up in the back of a truck and he brought me here to this shelter.  So then they gave me something that made me go to sleep and when I woke up I find out they neutered me!  In my sleep!

Now no one asked me if that was OK, nope, they just went ahead and did it without my consent and let me tell you, I was not too happy about it.  But I’ve kinda gotten used to it and I guess it’s OK.  I mean, I still like girls.  I just can’t remember why.

Popcorn and Cambridge

Popcorn and Cambridge have really bonded together.  They would love to be adopted into the same family if possible, but if that can’t happen, they still want to be adopted.

DeWayne is good with other dogs and seems to love everyone.

I’m DeWayne and I don’t want to sound like I am complaining.

They are good to me here. Things could be much worse.  But they could be much better too.  For example, If I had a family of my own to love.  If I had a backyard I could run around in.  If I had…

I just hope I get adopted before I go stir crazy being locked up here all the time.

Please adopt me!

He is housebroken and except for begging for food at the high chair, he minds his manners well.

Murphy is good with people and kids. We don’t know about cats.

Murphy

Murphy has been with a Foster who says that he shows some jealousy when her other dogs seem to be getting all the attention.  He might do best in a home where he is the only dog.

He was also with another Foster where there were very young children and no other dogs.  He was exceptionable.  No food aggression, great with the children.  The perfect dog.  Murphy is crate and potty trained.

Sammy

I know, I know – the picture says my name is “Snow”.  Well, they changed it. Why?  Because “Snow” sounds like “NO”.  So every time they called my name I thought I did something wrong.  After a while when they called me, I thought “Now what have I done?”  I asked them to please change my name before I got some kind of complex or something.

OK, now that we got that straight, I’m a boy.  I love to play and I broke my leg.

Angel

I’m a girl.  I am worried about my sister and brothers,  I really hope they get adopted soon.  Of course I want to be adopted too.

Oh NO! What happened to Sammy?

Hi, I’m Sammy.  I’m here in Maine and staying with a Foster and I fell and broke my leg.  I’m OK now, the Veterinarian has fixed me up and I will soon heal and be a strong as ever.

I want to sound brave like a tough guy, but truth is I’m loving the sympathy and cuddling that I’m getting now.  I’ll play the tough guy routine later, after I grow up a bit.

Sammy has been asking every time he needs to go out.  NO ACCIDENTS in the house at all.  He is one sweet boy.  No food aggression, no aggression with other dogs.  We have three adult dogs, much larger than Sammy.  He shows respect but is not timid.  They get along great.  He has been quiet and has not barked at all.  What a lovable boy!

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
