Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

2019 was a huge success and 2020 is off to a great start! Charlie with help from our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and donors is rescuing lots of his friends. Click here to see some of the many dogs that have already found new homes.

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are in full compliance with all Maine health requirements including quarantine periods, exceed the minimum age for importation, have current health certificates, have received all age appropriate vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip to identify them so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

If you want to be the first to know, get a sneak peek and be notified of our adoption events, just sign up for our email.

Seventy Five Dogs? Really?

We are in the process of adding about seventy five dogs to the website.  About half will be coming on March 7th and the rest are scheduled to arrive on march 21st.  The dates and the list of dogs are subject to change, so please check the website often.

If you want to be notified of transport dates and adoption events, please subscribe to our email.  Don’t worry, we won’t spam you.

Adding the dogs will take a while and in many cases we don’t yet have all the information and updated pictures.  We will keep the website updated as complete information and better pictures become available.

Hi, I’m a boy named Charles Dickens.  Perhaps you have heard of me.  We are in a city in Alabama now.  Charlie is rescuing us and bringing us to a city in Maine.  Once we get there, I’ll tell you the tale of the two cities.

Edgar Allan Poe

I’m a boy and I had a terrible nightmare last night.  I dreamed I was strapped to a table in a deep pit and there was this pendulum swinging back and forth over me.  It kept getting closer and closer.

Finally I woke up and everything was OK.  I snuggled in with my Mom and went back to sleep.

All of us are great dogs.  My Mom loves everyone and gets along great with all the neighbors.

My brothers Edgar and Charles are fun loving guys who just want a family to love.  Same with me.  That’s what I want too – just a family to love.  Will it be yours?

Hi, I’m Cleo and I’m looking for a new home.  I’m very friendly with everyone.

Cleo is a special girl. She likes ALL dogs/cats/critters. Submits to everyone and everything.
But here is her one issue-
She never learned to walk on a leash properly and she tugs.. she is very strong at 75 lbs.
She will need a strong handler…
Her current owner is frail/sickly and almost got dragged by Cleo and is afraid shes going to get hurt.
Other than that, Cleo is a special girl.
Loves everyone… calm.. housebroken..
LOVES kids and other animals.
Shes been taught to pick up her toys and put them away.

Maple and her babies were found abandoned at the side of the road in Alabama.  One of the babies didn’t make it.

Hi, I’m Maple

My babies and I were abandoned at the side of the road.  They just stopped the car, dumped us out and drove off. My babies were terrified.  I tried to be brave and tell my babies that everything would be OK, but truth is, I have never been so scared.

A nice woman found us and took us to a shelter.  I was really sad that one of my babies didn’t make it through the night.  Maybe if we had been taken to the shelter instead of being dumped at the side of the road.  Or maybe if the woman had found us sooner…

When Charlie heard about us he said he would bring us to Maine and get us adopted.  ADOPTED!  What magic and relief there is in just that one word – the one word that will change our lives forever.

Aren’t my babies gorgeous?  I worry about them and hope that they will be adopted soon.  I want to be a part of a new family too.  Will you help?  Will you adopt one of my babies? After they are adopted, will you adopt me?

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
