Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

More Dogs and Puppies coming in mid September

August has been a huge success - lots of Rescue dogs adopted!

Charlie (with help from humans) rescued lots of his friends so far this year.  They are very happy dogs now that they have been adopted by their new families.  Scroll down to see the dogs and puppies that will be arriving in Maine and ready for adoption soon.

None of this would be possible without our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. The happy faces on kids, adults and wiggly, tail wagging dogs makes all the effort worthwhile. With your continued support, we will make 2019 even better than last year!

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are up to date on all their vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

Here's Joule

Joule

Joule is a seven month old female Siberian Husky mix.

Hi, my name is Joule.  I would wag my tail for you, but I don’t have one anymore.  I lost it when I got hit by a car. I was lucky. It could have been a lot worse.

Lola

Lola is a one year old Chihuahua mix.  She is good with adults and kids.  She is not good with cats.  She is good with dogs her own size but a bit timid at first with big dogs.
She has a good disposition and is delightful to be around.

Lola is looking for a new home and a new family to love.

An hour or so after arriving with a Foster, here is what the Foster writes:
“After giving me kisses and taking a nap with me and one of my other small dogs, She now is sniffing and exploring the living room. When I called her she came running and gave me a kiss and hopped back on the sofa. She loves attention!”

This Foster has seven dogs of her own and reports that Lola, while a little timid at first, is doing great with all of them.

“She just jumped on the sofa and gave me a bunch of kisses while wagging her tail!”

The Foster noticed that Katie was a little fat.

Surprise!

Katie gave birth to three beautiful puppies!

It will be early October when the puppies are old enough and Mom is ready to travel to Maine to be adopted.  Check back on this web site for pictures and information about the puppies.

What’s a Chiweenie?  The Chiweenie, a mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua,  is a fairly new breed that first became popular in the 1990’s.  Many say they are the perfect lap dog.

Shelbie

I am already in Maine and staying with a Foster.  I’m up to date on all my vaccinations.  I’ve been micro chipped and I’m already spayed.

I am ready for you to adopt me and take me home.

I am a Golden Retriever / Australian Shepherd mix.  I’m a good looking dog, wouldn’t you say??

Shelbie is 1.5 years old female and weighs 65 pounds.  She is very sweet and loves kids, people and other dogs.  Shelbie does not do well with cats.  She probably wouldn’t hurt them but she does love to chase them around the house.  Shelbie is active and loves to play.

Jackson

Jackson is four years old.  He is a male Chihuahua mix.

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
