Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

More Dogs and Puppies coming in mid September

August was a huge success - lots of Rescue dogs adopted!

Charlie (with help from humans) rescued lots of his friends so far this year.  They are very happy dogs now that they have been adopted by their new families.  Scroll down to see the dogs and puppies that will be arriving in Maine and ready for adoption soon.

None of this would be possible without our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. The happy faces on kids, adults and wiggly, tail wagging dogs makes all the effort worthwhile. With your continued support, we will make 2019 even better than last year!

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are up to date on all their vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

“Nick is a super sweet boy! Very relaxed and has a great demeanor. He gets along great with other dogs but does not prefer puppies. He is not food aggressive at our house at all. He loves kids and is motivated by attention over treats.
Nick is not very well trained. We are working on house training and basic commands.. he will need a patient family ❤ he is amazing with children!”

The Foster noticed that Katie was a little fat.

Surprise!

Katie gave birth to three beautiful puppies!

It will be early October when the puppies are old enough and Mom is ready to travel to Maine to be adopted.  Check back on this web site for pictures and information about the puppies.

Daisy

Daisy is a six year old female Boxer with an inoperable tumor on her leg.  She is very sweet and gentle.  Daisy is housebroken and great with people, kids, other dogs and even cats.

Daisy

Daisy and her brother were dumped in a rural Alabama shelter. Her brother was adopted but Daisy was not.

Why hasn’t anyone snatched Daisy up? She’s a GORGEOUS Boxer. She’s potty trained, spayed, GREAT with people, kids, dogs and even cats.
Daisy hasn’t gotten adopted because she has a large tumor on her leg.  The vet believes the tumor is cancerous and far too involved and complicated to remove.
Daisy just needs a place to live out the rest of her days in a loving, understanding environment.

Daisy

Daisy is in a tough spot.  The tumor on her left rear leg is cancerous and is too involved to be removed surgically.  It doesn’t seem to be bothering her much or causing pain, at least not yet.  We don’t know how long she will last but this is very likely a hospice situation.

I am scared out of my wits.  I used to have a family.  I don’t know what I did that was so bad they dumped me on the side of the road.  Oh sure, the people where I am now treat me good and give me plenty of good food and fresh water.  They even pet me and talk to me.  But I used to have a REAL family.  I just want to be a part of a family again.
I would be sooo much happier if I were on your lap.

What’s a Chiweenie?  The Chiweenie, a mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua,  is a fairly new breed that first became popular in the 1990’s.  Many say they are the perfect lap dog.

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
