Will you help rescue his friends?

Meet Charlie

Hi, I’m Charlie.

This dog rescue organization is named after me.

My sister and I were in cages, sleeping on a cold concrete floor and getting lousy food.  It was crowded and they had to make room because more dogs were coming.

If we hadn’t been rescued, things would not have ended well for us.

Some of my friends are in the same terrible situation and they need help.

Will you help me save my friends?

Let’s make sure they get a new life in a warm and loving home.

Save a life.  Adopt one of my friends.

Lets go!

Can you please hurry?

My friends are waiting!

Is it OK if I drive?

Meet Charlie's Friends

all but one of the adults and puppies that arrived on November 2nd have been adopted. Lots MORE will arrive at the END of November and even MORE in early December. Stay Tuned…

2019 has been a huge success – lots of Rescue dogs adopted!

Charlie (with help from humans) rescued lots of his friends so far this year.  They are very happy dogs now that they have been adopted by their new families.  Scroll down to see the dogs and puppies that will be arriving in Maine and ready for adoption soon.

None of this would be possible without our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. The happy faces on kids, adults and wiggly, tail wagging dogs makes all the effort worthwhile. With your continued support, we will make 2019 even better than last year!

All dogs and puppies adopted through Rescue Charlie’s Friends are up to date on all their vaccinations, have been spayed or neutered and have a microchip so that if they are ever lost, they can be returned to their family.

NOTICE: Lots more adults and puppies will be arriving at the end of November and again in the first week of December.  Details will be added to this website as they become available.  If you want to be the first to know, get a sneak peek and be notified of our adoption events, just sign up for our email.

DOG OF THE WEEK

This dog is

Squiggy

Full of energy.  Wants to know everything that is going on.  Squiggy loves everybody – kids, adults – loves ’em all.  Great with other dogs. We don’t know about cats.

Squiggy is well socialized and gets along with everyone.  His sisters, Laverne and Shirley have already been adopted.  In fact of the thirty adults and puppies that arrived on November 2nd, Squiggy is the only one not yet adopted. He needs a new home!

Squiggy is in Maine now and staying with a Foster.

Squiggy is a four month old male Labrador mix.

Hi, I’m Squiggy.  I’m a really great dog and I can’t figure out why, out of thirty dogs that arrived here in Maine last week, I am the only one not yet adopted.  I am a sweet, playful, loyal love-bug but no one has adopted me.  I just don’t get it.

i know what you’re thinking. “These shoes are nearly new and I don’t want some puppy chewing on them”.

OK, so here’s the deal.  Just PUT THEM AWAY and I promise I won’t eat them.  There, see how simple?

Besides, I’m not just “some puppy”.  Maybe you could say it with some enthusiasm, as in “Wow!  Now that’s SOME PUPPY”.  Got it?

Rex

Rex is a one year old male Labrador mix.  He is good with kids and other dogs.  He is very sweet.

They only took one picture of me.  All the other dogs got two or three each.  But me, only one.  Maybe they think I am soooo cute I only need one picture to get adopted.  Maybe they think that having two pictures on the website would give me an unfair advantage.

Please, just adopt me and we can figure it out later.

“What’s a Chiweenie?” people always ask me.  Well, according to my mom,. it is a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund.  Doesn’t matter to me, because I am just about the cutest little dog you ever saw, if I do say so myself.

Just take me home and watch all your friends wish they had adopted me.

Skylar has been the victim of abuse in the past.  If you move your arm quickly, she will cower and tremble in fear.  She needs a gentle family where she can build confidence and learn that not every quick movement brings pain.  She needs to build trust and that may take some time.

Are you the right person for her?

Please adopt me!  I ‘m waiting just for you.

Frannie is an absolute love muffin. She just wants to be on the couch with you, but when she finds her “person” she doesn’t like to share attention and gets jealous of other dogs.

She would do best in a home where she is the only dog.

So I’m walking around minding my own business, just looking for something to eat and this guy says “Hey, come here. Let me see your eyes. They’re two different colors.”

Now I never knew that before, they seem the same to me, so I let him look.  Bingo-Bango I wind up in the back of a truck and he brought me here to this shelter.  So then they gave me something that made me go to sleep and when I woke up I find out they neutered me!  In my sleep!

Now no one asked me if that was OK, nope, they just went ahead and did it without my consent and let me tell you, I was not too happy about it.  But I’ve kinda gotten used to it and I guess it’s OK.  I mean, I still like girls.  I just can’t remember why.

Maine, wherever that is, sounds great but what I really want is to settle down with one family.  I just want to lay next to my best friend on the coucn and know that it is my forever home.

I just hope I get adopted before I go stir crazy being locked up here all the time.

What people are saying

I adopted a puppy from Rescue Charlie’s Friends on June 2, 2018 named August. My thirteen year old dog had passed away the month before.

I renamed him. Bud Lite. Bud because he is my Buddy and Lite because he is the Lite of my life.

I am some what of a hermit, but Buddy gets me out walking everyday. We have met many wonderful people and other dogs on our walks.

He means everything to me.

PLEASE keep up the good work you are doing both for the dogs and the families that are fortunate enough to adopt them.

From Foster to Adopter

I have always been a dog person.
For as long as I can remember I have had a special bond with these four legged loves.
When my karma died I thought that my heart would rip in two. To me, and many other pet owners, a dog is very much a part of your family, another child. There is nothing like the love that a dog has for their humans.
For many years I have wanted another dog, but as we all know it’s a lot of work and I’ve got enough going on in my life, Ha!

Fostering has been wonderful, it helps teach my kids responsibility, it shows them the importance of volunteer work and helping other beings, we get to have puppies around, and we got to save all of these beautiful dogs who otherwise wouldn’t have it so great.

I would highly recommend it for anyone out there who is a dog lover. It’s hard, yes, because you do fall in love, but it also gives life so much meaning, and it’s such an amazing feeling to see these dogs go to a new special home after coming from not so great circumstances.

This dog right here came into our life by chance. We are going away and the rescue just needed help with her for the weekend so they asked us. From the moment she got into our car, something was different. There was an immediate bond with my oldest and when we took her home it quickly extended to everyone. It just felt like she was coming home. We were absolutely not thinking about getting another dog right now, but just like Hazel, we absolutely could not let her go. She just fit. Even Hazel is realizing that she has a new body. This poor sweet dog had a rough beginning, but we’re here to make sure that the rest of her life is a grand one! I am so thankful that this sweet soul chose us. ❤️
